Quantitative Determinations of Acid Phosphatase in the Prostate Under Various Normal and Pathological Conditions: Preliminary Report

Abstract
Detn. of the acid phosphatase in 40 benign hyperplastic prostate glands, homogenized in the Waring blendor, revealed an avg. of 2300 units per g. of tissue. Analyses on 5 specimens of normal glands revealed lower values. It is concluded that the hyperplastic prostate fully maintains its specific function of acid phosphatase production.
