Abstract
The Sharma and Brau theory developed for the near-resonance vibrational energy transfer processes due to the Coulomb interaction between colliding molecules is shown to be valid also for processes which are far away from resonance. A modified Sharma and Brau theory valid for arbitrary energy discrepancy is described. For off-resonance vibrational energy transfer the head-on collisions are shown to play a dominant role.
