Abstract
In this article, the important properties and applications of shape memory polyurethanes are introduced. A number of dramatic property changes occurring at the glass transition temperature are reviewed, including elastic modulus, hardness, damping, variable vapor permeability, shape memory, and fixity. Stress-strain-temperature data are presented to differentiate shape memory polyurethane from shape memory alloys. Finally, several state-of-the-art applications are described. Keywords
