Abstract
Saline extracts of frozen chick pituitaries injd. into capons gave significant increases in growth in both length and height of their combs. Saline extracts of fresh bovine pituitaries, in very large doses, had no effect on comb growth. Purified ACTH does not cause a change in comb size when injd. into capons. It is indicated that there is a substance(s) in chick pituitary that causes increased comb growth in capons which appears to be species specific.
