Abstract
Summary: Studies of the vegetative morphology and anatomy of the genera Flagellaria and Joinvillea indicate that there are striking and highly significant differences between them, of such a nature that the current concept of the family Flagellariaceae seems artificial. Therefore Joinvillea is segregated into a newly proposed family, Joinvilleaceae. Keywords
