Abstract
Beta-phenyl ethyl hydrazine dihydrogen sulphate (phenelzine, “Nardil”) is one of the group of hydrazides being currently advocated for the treatment of depression. It has been claimed that this drug has similar properties to iproniazid but is less toxic (Furst, 1959; Thal, 1959), and uncontrolled clinical trials have produced reports of rapid improvement in 70–80 per cent. of cases (Furst, 1959).Keywords
