Abstract
SURPRISINGLY enough, a variety of answers can be elicited from the simple question, Are blood pressures in the arms and legs the same? Such a difference of opinion is also manifested by varying reports in the literature utilizing different technics of blood-pressure measurement. Some studies employed the cuff method alone,1 2 3 4 5 6 7 whereas others used aneroid8 or other types of manometers9 10 11 and still others attempted to compare different methods.12 In many of these publications the number of subjects studied has been small.
