Dormant and Adventitious Buds

Abstract
A method which eliminates contamination during the cultivation in vitro of excised embryos of seed plants is presented. When embryos of Oenothera are to be transferred to solid medium, they are placed in shell vials (70 X 21 mm.) containing the medium, and another sterilized shell vial (60 X 25 mm.) is inverted as a lid over the first. Gas exchange still occurs because of imperfect contact between container and lid, but evaporation is reduced.
