A Low-Power, High Performance Electrode Amplifier for Clinical Use in Myoelectric Control Systems

Abstract
A design for a myoelectric signal amplifier is presented in this paper. The design is a variation on the well-known instrumentation amplifier configuration, which takes into account the nature of surface electrodes and the intended clinical use of the amplifier. The circuitry, at present, has been implemented in thick-film technology and requires no final adjustments to obtain a common-mode rejection ratio of 100 dB. Final implementation in thin-film technology is currently in progress, and the circuitry is to be incorporated into a new line of myoelectric control systems for clinical use with infants.
