Systemic Form of Weber-Christian Disease with Hepatic Enlargement

Abstract
A case of systemic form of Weber-Christian disease is described. The patient, an 11-year-old boy, was admitted in July, 1969. His illness started at 2 years of age with an appearance of generalized and symmetrically-distributed subcutaneous nodules. Each new crop was accompanied by fever and temperature, leaving atrophic areas when the lesions regress. On examination the child showed subcutaneous nodular lesions of 1–2 cm, which were painful and red in colour; some were slightly mobile, and many atrophic areas were present. The liver was enlarged 8 cm below the right costal margin with a smooth surface, and liver tests were impaired. Corticosteroids and antibiotics in the therapy were of little help.
