Few of the medical monographs cascading across one's desk have any claim to uniqueness. Here is one which is truly unique in one respect. It is a study of the incidence and course of psoriasis among a third of the population of the Faroes Islands, the first time that such a survey has been carried out upon the entire population of a geographical area. All previous data have been based upon studies of small segments of the population, such as patients seen in outpatient facilities and hospitals, in groups of students, and in individuals inducted into military service. Entirely aside from the medical aspects of this monograph are the interesting and fascinating glimpses which it affords of the Islands themselves, a group of 17 in the North Atlantic, 1,300 kilometers from Copenhagen and 450 kilometers from Iceland; of the hardy Norsemen who inhabit these islands, speaking their ancient Norse tongue;Keywords
