Abstract
The perovskite‐type layered crystal K2ZnF4 is built up from the same structural units as the perovskite KZnF3, namely ZnF6 octahedra which have almost the same dimensions in both the materials. While the lattice dynamics has been studied in detail for the perovskites, in this investigation the first measurement of the phonon dispersion curves of K2ZnF4 is presented as an example for a perovskite‐type layer material with the K2NiF4 structure. By comparing corresponding phonon modes in the perovskite and the layer structure it is found that the interatomic forces within the octahedra do not change with the crystalline environment. Keywords
