Abstract
The correlation which exists between the dynamic strains occurring in span and those occurring at the rigidly clamped extremities on vibrating taut circular beams is shown. The way wire slippage, occurring on real loaded stranded cables, will reduce the dynamic strains and contribute to the cable's internal damping is also illustrated. Keywords
