Abstract
Since 1971, the Land Conservation Council has been preparing reports and recommendations on the future use of public land in Victoria. The Council's operations involve personnel from departments responsible for natural resources, and the public. This paper describes the charter and membership of the Council and explains its procedures. Some of the principles adopted and the nature of the public participation are discussed. Keywords
