Abstract
Some of Embden''s studies on the effect of various ions on muscle have been repeated and confirmed. The chemical behavior of non-irritable muscle was similar to that of normal muscle. Failure of non-irritable muscle to contract did not appear to depend upon lactacidogen serving as a precursor for lactic acid. These experiments did not indicate the part played by phosphoric acid in stimulating muscular contraction. It is suggested that colloidal changes may account for the behavior of non-irritable muscle. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
