Abstract
Primary neoplasms rarely originate in the patella, and metastases to the patella are even less frequent. The latter is probably explained by the scant blood supply of this sesamoid bone. Carcinomatous synovitis of one knee was an early manifestation of pulmonary carcinoma in a 67‐year‐old man. This was associated with rapid, complete lysis of the patella; no other osseous metastases were evident. Keywords
