Abstract
A comprehensive energy-conservation program by Bell System is developed that is designed neither to impair telecommunications services nor to affect negatively employee welfare and morale. This program covers the following major areas: electric power for the operation of switching and transmission equipment for the US nationwide telecommunications network; electric power and fuel for building systems; transportation fuels for the vehicle fleet; and electric power and fuel for the manufacture of cable, wire, printed wiring products, and various telecommunications equipment such as telephones, data sets, and teletypewriters. Keywords
