Abstract
Electro-optical response characteristics of rare-earth-doped alkaline-earth-sulfide electroluminescent (EL) devices were studied. From the measurement of luminance and transferred charge response characteristics of CaS:Eu, CaS:Ce, SrS:Eu, and SrS:Ce EL devices, rare-earth luminescent centers were found to play a decisive role in controlling electro-optical response characteristics rather than alkaline-earth-sulfide phosphor materials were. Especially, it was found that slow luminance response and slow transferred-charge response were due to the Eu luminescent center. These response characteristics in CaS:Eu were improved to a practical level by codoping a small amount of Ce.This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
