Abstract
A kinase defective mutant of PKC‐α down‐regulates in response to phorboI esters as effectively as the wild‐type protein when introduced into COS‐1 cells. This demonstrates that intramolecular autophosphorylation is not a prerequisite for down‐regulation. Keywords
