Abstract
The use of the thumb for squashing chromosomal material cannot be depended upon to give good preparations. No 2 persons will apply the same amount of pressure, nor can 1 person apply the same pressure regularly; also, the possibility of distorting the chromosomes through movement of the cover slip is always present. To eliminate these variables, an apparatus (Fig. 1) was developed which will consistently apply identical pressures at much greater force than can the thumb.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
