Abstract
Genetic variants A and B of the bovine β‐lactoglobulin are common in all breeds of cattle and β‐lactoglobulin is an important factor in protein recovery and cheese yield from milk. Early and accurate identification of β‐lactoglobulin genotypes in animals of both sexes could have a direct impact on the genetic improvement of milk composition. We report a rapid method for differentiating bovine β‐lactoglobulin AA, AB or BB genotypes by using the polyrnerase chain reaction technique and restriction fragment length polymorphism. Keywords
