The size and mass distribution of Galactic molecular clouds

Abstract

By combining observational results on small and large molecular clouds, the spectra of average cloud sizes and masses are obtained, resembling log-normal distributions. The shape of these distributions should place constraints on the mechanism of cloud formation.
