Abstract
Electrophoretic studies of the cerebrospinal fluid and serum proteins were made on 26 cases of disseminated sclerosis, 3 of multiple myeloma, 2 of neurosyphillis and 4 normal controls. In chronic inflammatory disease the gamma-globulin/albumin ratio of the cerebrospinal fluid exceeded that of the serum and was more variable than the alpha plus beta globulin/albumin ratio, indicating gamma-globulin production in the central nervous system. A raised lymphocyte count accompanied the rise in gamma-globulin.Keywords
