Abstract
We investigated the dependence of the diffusion coefficient on the absorption coefficient by studying the propagation of light emitted by an isotropic source in an infinitely extended medium. Comparisons with both experimental and numerical results showed that the diffusion equation gives a better description of photon migration when the diffusion coefficient is assumed to be independent of absorption. Keywords
