Lipoprotein receptors

Abstract
Structure-function relationships of the LDL receptor continue to be analyzed, and some exciting findings on intracellular targeting mechanisms have emerged in 1992. Along other lines, further characterization of the ligand-binding properties of the LDL-receptor-related protein/α2-macroglobulin receptor, the discovery of an extrahepatic receptor with high affinity for triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, and the characterization of cell-specific expression of LDL-receptor gene family members in oviparous species offer the chance to delineate the biological and evolutionary significance of simultaneous expression of related gene products in the same organism.
