Abstract
To simplify therapy of the menopause two naturally occurring estrogenic compounds were tried and compared with diethylstilbestrol. Both are of equine origin. mixture of conjugated estrogens, chief of which are estriol glucuronidate in the 1st and sodium estrone sulfate in the 2d. The later and newer prep. of conjugated estrogens. being much more potent than estriol glucuronidate, provided adequate symptomatic relief without supplemental estrogenic therapy. The side reactions observed with diethylstilbestrol were practically absent when the conjugated estrogens were administered to 71 patients. For these reasons these natural estrogens have replaced all other steroid preps. for routine therapy of the menopause. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
