Abstract
Graves' disease has 17 (1) or more synonyms and even now, with so much apparently known, an individual patient may rouse emotional argument on the point of whether or not her condition constitutes an example of the syndrome. Although exceptions are recognized, Graves' disease is here considered primarily as a complex involving diffuse thyroid hyperplasia (usually with goiter and thyrotoxicosis) and frequently associated with ophthalmopathy of varying character and severity.
