Abstract
The electroluminescent phosphors Zn(S : Se) activated with Cu and Cl, and those activated with Cu and Al were prepared, and the spectral distribution, temperature dependence and voltage dependence were measured. In addition, some thermoluminescence measurements were made, which are important in interpreting the electroluminescent behaviors. The phosphors containing large proportion of ZnSe show pronounced temperature quenching at room temperature. Their emission band considerably broadens and tends to be separated into two bands at 77°K. The experimental results suggest that the ionized centers in these phosphors tend to recombine with electrons in valence band by thermal excitation. Keywords
