Abstract
Teenage pregnancy is a socially unacceptable status in Taiwan based on the Chinese value system. Not only do families have difficulty in accepting teenage pregnancy, classmates and peers also respond as if it a shameful occurrence. Taiwanese nursing professionals, obstetricians, pediatricians, and social workers have so far failed to address this issue as a major health problem. Consequently, teenage mothers become a socially isolated group. Although group sessions have worked well with adolescents in the United States, because of cultural differences, they would be less acceptable in Taiwan. A proposed home‐visit model, therefore, which is modified to meet Taiwanese teenage mothers’ situation is presented in this article. Outcomes will be evaluated and reported following year one of the project. Keywords
