Tin(II) Bromide - Acetyl Bromide: A Mild and Efficient Reagent for Direct Conversion of Alcohol Benzyl Ethers into Acetates

Abstract
A combination system of acetyl bromide with a catalytic amount of tin(II) bromide cleaves benzyl protected alcohols efficiently to afford the corresponding acetates in high yields. Chemoselective conversion of p-methoxybenzyl ethers into phenoxyacetates was also proved to be successful.
