Abstract
The well-resolved structure of the electron spin resonance (ESR) of and in rutile (Ti) is interpreted in terms of the hfs interaction of the and ions which occupy the nearest sites along the crystalline axis. The absence of such structure in the cases of and is discussed in simple terms.
