pH Dependence of the Renin Reaction: A Modification of Commercial Renin Activity Radioimmunoassay Kits

Abstract
The commercially available renin activity radioimmunoassay kits contain materials of high quality, but the procedures recommended by the manufacturers are based on false assumptions and are incapable of producing satisfactory results. A simple modified procedure which can be used with the commercially available materials to produce highly reliable and consistent measurements of renin activity is presented. These modifications consist of a simple one-step adjustment of the pH and a shortening of the incubation period. A general discussion of the reactions and data to support the modification are presented.
