2.5 Gbit/s Ti:LiNbO 3 external modulator transmitter and its long distance transmission performance in the field

Abstract
The letter demonstrates the long-term stability of a Ti:LiNbO3 external modulator transmitter and its performance in the field with 770 km 1.3 μm zero-dispersion fibre in the ground at a wavelength of 1.557 μm and data rate of 2.5 Gbit/s. The chromatic dispersion penalty at 770 km, corresponding to 127,551 ps/nm dispersion, was measured to be ~0.6dB.
