Influence of Smoking on Urinary Pepsinogen Excretion.

Abstract
In habitual cigarette smokers determinations of urinary pepsinogen by the method of West, Ellis, and Scott, with a casein substrate, yielded average results 43% higher than in non-smokers. This is a prolonged effect; the immediate increase of pepsinogen excretion during smoking is of small magnitude.
