Abstract
Conidia of C. tropica varied in shape from that previously described and were commonly 5-septate, occasionally 8-septate. Linear growth was not measurable at 10 and 40 [degree]C. Average growth rates at 15, 25, and 35[degree]C were 0.28, 0.50, and 0.75 mm/hour. The optimum temperature was not determined. Carbohydrates supporting growth in shake culture were d-xylose, d-fructose, d-glucose, d-galactose, d-mannose, and cellobiose. Growth comparable to that in basal medium occurred with 1-arabinose, 1-sorbose, sucrose, d-maltose, d-lactose, and d-raffinose. Separate trials with soluble starch and cellulose filter paper on agar were terminated after 1 week with no growth. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
