Abstract
This paper describes the results of the first phase of a statewide study of patients with cerebral palsy in Minnesota. A prevalence of 1.3 per 1000 total population was found. Using the results of an independent survey, it was estimated that there was at least 9% underreporting of patients, giving a corrected prevalence rate of 1.4 per 1000. The highest prevalence was found in individuals 5-24 years of age. There was considerable variation in prevalence among the 87 counties of the state. Comparisons are drawn with other community studies of patients with cerebral palsy. Keywords
