Abstract
FINE et al.1 were the first to report dissecting aneurysm and a hemorrhagic diathesis evident as petechiae, gingival bleeding and prolonged bleeding from venipuncture sites. The results of a coagulation study were consistent with a diagnosis of consumption coagulopathy. Only one2 of the many survey articles2 3 4 5 subsequently published lists an aneurysm as a cause of consumption coagulopathy. As far as we know, three more patients have been described with an aneurysm and consumption coagulopathy6 7 8; however, the clinical data and the results of the coagulation studies were given for only one case.8 Case ReportsCase 1.
