Aspirin in the Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus in the Elderly

Abstract
Twenty-three elderly patients suffering from diabetes mellitus were treated with aspirin. A consistent lowering effect on blood sugar and urine sugar was noted. Side effects were minimal, and hypoglycemic attacks were absent. Prolonged treatment was possible, 1 case for 9 1/2 months and 1 case for 10 months. Aspirin therapy is safe and easily administered, and worthy of trial in elderly patients with mild diabetes.
