Production of Low-Mass $p π^{+} π^{-}$ and $\bar{p} π^{+} π^{-}$ States in the Reaction $\bar{p} p \to \bar{p} p π^{+} π^{-}$ at 3-4 GeV/c

Abstract

We discuss low-mass enhancements observed in the

p π^{+} π^{-}

and in the

\bar{p} π^{+} π^{-}

systems produced in the reaction

\bar{p} p \to \bar{p} p π^{+} π^{-}

at 3-4 GeV/c. We conclude that these enhancements near the mass of the

N (1470)

, at our energy, are associated with the

Δ^{+ +} (1236) - {\bar{Δ}}^{- -} (1236)

channel.
