Abstract
Deformation maps that describe the mechanical behavior of oxide nuclear fuels in and out of reactor were constructed from experimental data using the approach of Ashby. By incorporating the effects of changes in composition and microstructure into the rate equations a map was constructed to describe the in‐reactor mechanical behavior of a fully restructured mixed (U,Pu) oxide fuel. The implications of this map are discussed in relation to the modeling of fuel behavior. Keywords
