Solitary Rectal Ulcer Syndrome: Result of Functional Defecation Disorders?

Abstract
Defecography was performed in 31 patients with solitary rectal ulcer syndrome (SRUS). 24 patients had internal intussusception, and in 7 the spastic pelvic floor syndrome (SPFS) was diagnosed. After rectopexy in 20 patients with intussusception and biofeedback treatment in 1 patient with the SPFS, the defecation disorders disappeared and the ulcerations healed. SRUS is the result of defecation straining caused by function defecation disorders, which can be detected by defecography.
