Abstract
The spin observables in deep inelastic nuclear collisions have been studied in the framework of the stochastic nucleon-exchange model with the inclusion of temperature and shell effects. The results agree well with experimental data. Temperature is found to have an insignificant effect on all the spin observables. The shell gap reduces the accumulated spin, but has little effect on its alignment. Keywords
