Abstract
OUTPATIENT laparoscopic cholecystectomy was first reported by Reddick and Olsen1 in 1990. With mounting pressure to contain costs and the use of hospital beds, the proportion of laparoscopic cholecystectomies performed in the ambulatory setting has been growing rapidly. Ambulatory laparoscopic cholecystectomy has now become an established practice for the management of gallstone disease in our institution.
