Abstract
Structure-function and conformational studies of the phagocytosis-stimulating tetrapeptide tuftsin were done. Among the products resulting from splitting of human IgG H chain by trypsin, tuftsin (sequence 289-292) and a tuftsin-like tetrapeptide Gly-Gln-Pro-Arg may be present. Theoretical conformational analysis showed a considerable similarity of the spatial arrangement of the tetrapeptide and tuftsin. This supports the potential tuftsin-like activity of the tetrapeptide. The phagocytosis stimulating activity of Gly-Gln-Pro-Arg synthesized in vitro was equal to that of tuftsin. Keywords
