Abstract
Bagasse is the name given to sugar cane after it has been crushed and after the juice has been extracted. Inhalation of bagasse dust incites a pathologic process in the lungs which has been termed "bagasse disease of the lungs" or "bagassosis." This illness is characterized by diffuse infiltration and consolidation, by an acute bronchiolitis or by pneumonia. The condition is reversible following cessation of exposure. Three case histories arc given. Keywords
