Abstract
Complement factor H (CFH) has been implicated in the predisposition to advanced forms of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The purpose of this review is to highlight recent discoveries implicating single nucleotide polymorphisms on 1q32, 6p21, and 10q26 in the risk for development of AMD. In addition, the central role of CFH in the complement cascade and its role in the inflammatory hypothesis for AMD are reviewed. Keywords
