Abstract
We present a scalable dispersion management scheme that offers essentially distance-independent dispersion accumulation by the use of interleaved periodic-group-delay dispersion-compensation modules for high spectral-efficiency transparent dense wavelength-division-multiplexed (DWDM) transmission. It is also shown by numerical simulations to offer high nonlinear tolerance for both 10- and 40-Gb/s traffic in DWDM systems with 50-GHz channel spacing. Keywords
