Abstract
Test circuits and testing procedures are described whereby the behavior of HV circuit breakers can be evaluated when interrupting small inductive currents. Test results may be directly applied to predict switching overvoltages in service. Examples of such predictions are presented for a 10 kV, SF6 -insulated circuit breaker which had been tested by the proposed method. Keywords
