Abstract
The last decade has brought a tremendous turnaround in nutritional recommendations for diabetes management, moving from low-carbohydrate, high-fat diets to high-carbohydrate, high-fiber, low-fat diets. Clinical studies which furthered understanding of carbohydrate metabolism greatly contributed to the change. This paper reviews recent advances in selected aspects of carbohydrate nutrition and metabolism in diabetes mellitus. Keywords
