Stable Methods for Evaluating the Points cos(iπ/n)

Abstract
A variety of alternative methods for evaluating cos(iπ/n) for i= 0, 1,...,n are compared theoretically and experimentally, and the best ones selected on the basis of accuracy and the computational efficiency. The error analysis involved demonstrates how certain mathematically equivalent recurence relations can exhibit very different computational behaviour.
